About Phinomenon
Phinomenon is built by browser and cloud veterans — our founders behind FydeOS (a Chromium-based OS trusted by millions) and QingCloud (one of China's earliest API-first IaaS platforms founded in 2012). Fresh off a healthy, eight‑figure Series A raise, we've got the cash runway one needs to dream big without panicking about next week's payroll. With folks working from San Francisco, London, Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, we're proudly global and friendly to your time zone, with overlapping hours so we can all actually talk. We ship fast and ship hard — but burnout is so last decade, so we bake in wellness stipends, mandatory recharge days and flexible schedules, because great code comes from healthy lives. If you want to build the nextgen browser that actually, you know, gets you — while still enjoying your evenings and maintaining upright posture — welcome home.
About the Role
As a Frontend Engineer at Phinomenon, you’ll be building the AI-native gateway to the web—designing intuitive, lightning-fast interfaces that integrate cutting-edge models under the hood. You’ll partner with AI researchers, backend engineers, and designers to craft experiences that feel personal, predictive, and downright clever. Your work will directly shape how users interact with the next generation of intelligent browsing.
Responsibilities
- Translate design/mockups into responsive, high-performance UIs using React + TypeScript.
- Build reusable, modular component libraries for cross-platform use.
- Collaborate with backend and AI teams to integrate REST/GraphQL APIs and real-time services.
- Optimize for performance: code-splitting, lazy loading, critical rendering.
- Ensure accessibility and cross-browser compatibility.
- Maintain code quality via testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library).
- Contribute to frontend architecture, tooling (Webpack, CI/CD), and best practices.
- Participate in peer reviews, mentorship, and documentation.
Requirements
- 3+ years building production-grade web applications with modern frontend frameworks (React/Vue/Angular).
- Proficient in TypeScript, ES6+, HTML5, and modern CSS (Flexbox, Grid, pre-processors).
- Strong experience building component systems with state management (Redux, Zustand, or similar).
- Proven track record optimizing web performance and debugging across browsers/devices.
- Familiarity with RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
- Experience writing and maintaining frontend tests.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and remote teamwork skills.
- Passion for clean code, UX, and shipping polished products — not hacks.
Nice to Have
- Built a browser, extension, Electron app—or anything AI-native.
- Experience with WebAssembly, custom protocols, or service workers.
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts or deployments.
- Experience working in a distributed, cross-timezone team.
- Open-source contributions or a strong public portfolio.
