At Phinomenon Inc., we built Phi Browser for people with privacy in mind. This policy explains how we handle your personal data. By using or accessing Phi Browser ("Phi"), you are agreeing to the practices and policies outlined below and allowing us to collect, use, and share your information as described in this Privacy Policy.
We’re always working to make Phi better, which means this Privacy Policy might change from time to time. When it does, we’ll let you know of any material changes by placing a notice on our website or sending you an email. By continuing to use Phi after we post changes, you’re agreeing to the updated policy.
What does this Privacy Policy cover?
This Privacy Policy covers how we handle personal data that we gather when you use Phi Browser and our related services. Generally, “personal data” means any information that identifies or relates to you. This policy does not cover the practices of companies we don’t own or control or people we don’t manage.
What is personal data?
Categories of personal data we may collect or process
The personal data you provide, including:
- Account or contact data: Like your name, email address, password, or other account-related information. We collect this to provide you with Phi and so we can stay in touch.
- Payment data: If you choose to purchase paid features, we collect payment data such as payment card type and billing details. Note that payment data is predominantly processed and stored by our payment processor, Stripe, Inc..
- Content data: This includes the pages you visit using Phi, queries submitted to our AI features, and responses created by the AI. We process this to provide you with the core browser experience.
- AI and Context data: Data related to AI automations, "Context," or data connectors you create or share through Phi. This includes inputs, outputs, prompts, and descriptions associated with our AI Products (powered by providers like Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, and Google Gemini).
- Feedback and other information: Information you provide when you contact us for support, respond to surveys, or provide feedback on AI responses.
Personal data regarding your use of Phi, including:
- Feature usage data: Activity logs or event-based information regarding your use of Phi, including which features you use and when. This is collected automatically to help us improve the product.
- IP/device data: Your IP address, device ID, operating system, and browser type. This is collected automatically to ensure the security and operation of Phi.
How we use and process personal data
- To provide you with Phi:
- Creating and managing your account.
- Processing purchases for paid features.
- Providing AI research, automation, document generation, and translation features.
- Fraud protection, security, and debugging.
- To improve Phi:
- Internal analytics, testing, research, and product development.
- Identifying usage trends to improve user experience.
- To stay in touch:
- Replying to support requests.
- Sending you updates or news about Phinomenon Inc. (only if you’ve given us permission).
AI Products and Features
Phi offers advanced features powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning.
- Our AI Partners: We provide these features through third-party AI Service Providers, including Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, and Google Gemini.
- How it works: Your input, output, and necessary personal context are shared with these providers to generate responses (e.g., summaries, translations, or automations).
- Your Control: You can opt out of these features by switching AI features off in the Phi Browser settings.
How we may disclose your personal data
We will only disclose your personal data to the following parties:
- Service providers: Trusted partners who help us provide Phi, including:
- Hosting and Technology: Providers who host our infrastructure.
- AI Service Providers: Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, and Google Gemini.
- Payment Processors: Stripe, Inc. collects your payment info directly to process subscriptions.
- Analytics Providers: Tools that help us understand how Phi is used.
- Parties you authorize: Third parties you engage with through Phi, or when you use social logins (like Facebook or X) to register.
- Legal obligations: We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Phinomenon Inc. or our users.
- Business transfers: If Phinomenon Inc. undergoes a merger, acquisition, or bankruptcy, your data may be transferred to the new owners.
Cookies
Phi’s website may use cookies and similar technologies (like pixel tags and local storage) to power certain features. We may also permit third parties to use these technologies for analytics. You can usually choose to set your browser to remove or reject cookies, though this may affect how certain features of Phi function.
Data Security
We aim to protect your personal data through a system of organizational and technical security measures. However, no method of transmitting data over the internet is 100% secure. You should help protect your data by selecting a strong password and limiting access to your device.
Data Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary to provide you with Phi or to perform our business purposes. For example:
- We retain your profile information for as long as you have an account.
- We retain IP/device data as needed for system security and debugging.
- We retain payment data as long as needed to process your subscription.
When we no longer need your data, we will delete or anonymize it.
Personal data from children
We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal data from children under 18. If you are under 18, please do not attempt to register for Phi. U.S. State Privacy Rights
If you reside in certain U.S. states (such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Utah, Virginia, etc.), you have specific rights regarding your personal data.
- Access: You have the right to confirm if we are processing your data and access a copy of it.
- Deletion: You can ask us to delete the personal data we have collected. You can delete your Phi account directly within your Settings.
- Correction: You can ask us to correct inaccurate personal data.
- Portability: You can ask for a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC): We recognize and honor GPC signals. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we will treat this as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your data.
"Selling" or "Sharing" We do not sell your personal data. We have not sold or shared personal information for targeted advertising in the preceding 12 months.

European Data Subject Rights
If you live in the European Union (EU), United Kingdom (UK), or Switzerland, you have rights under the GDPR. Phinomenon Inc. is the controller of your personal data.

- Contractual Necessity: We process Account, Content, and AI data to perform our contract with you (providing the Browser).
- Legitimate Interest: We process Feature Usage and Feedback data to improve Phi and ensure security.
- Consent: Where required, we process data based on your explicit consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
Your Rights
- Access & Rectification: You can request a copy of your data or ask us to fix errors.
- Erasure: You can request we delete your data (usually done by deleting your account).
- Objection: You can object to our processing of your data for specific purposes.
- Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority (e.g., the ICO in the UK).
